Product Features
- 7" Rachael Ray Coppertail East/West Pro
Product Description
Endorsed by Celebrity Chef Rachael Ray, Füri RR East/West Coppertail knives are an upgrade from the original Füri East/West knives that made Füri famous among the leading chefs of the world. They feature a scalloped granton edge and have more ‘roll' in the end of the blade than a regular Santoku, allowing them to be used with both the rocking/sawing motion of a Chef's knife, and the chopper work of a Santoku.
The Füri RR 7" East/West Coppertial Knife is intentionally light and comes with all the world-acclaimed Füri-pro features: hygiene, durability, comfort, and sharpen-ability. Rachael says "I love the sharpness and scalloped edge of a Santoku blade- its the best blade available for slicing through a tomato. However, a traditional Santoku knife has a very straight edge, which makes it difficult to se in a rocking & sliding motion, as with most traditional chef's knives. The Füri RR features both a sharp, scalloped Santoku blade...and a rounded edge. So I can still slice through a tomato easily.... and can julienne through a bushel full of carrots in no time at all!"

Product Reviews Do They Have a Winner?
I finally have used it long enough to compare it with my Wusthof Classic Santoku.
Both have the same weight of about 7 ounces. The Furi has about 1/2" of more height at the blade next to the handle, close to the same blade thickness yet it feels to be lighter & is alot more comfortable to use due to the handle design. Then the big plus is the tip of the knife has a curved tip as on a Chef's knife; but needs more frequent sharpening.
I rated the Wusthof 5 stars due to the high quality & German steel & the great look of the classic design.
In my opinion, the German steel in a Wusthof is a higher quality steel. Furi states it is made out of a softer German steel but on the knife package it states, "Made in China." To the best of my knowledge; Rachel Ray is presently using the Gusto Grip Furi santoku which has the bright orange silicone grip on the handle & it's around $10.00 cheaper. Only time will tell which Santoku is my favorite of these two.
The Furi is #1 in balance and being very comfortable to use!
But then the Classic Wusthof is a better fit for those with smaller hands. If you can, try picking up a Wusthof Classic, a Wusthof Grand Prix, & the Furi which should help one to decide which one you prefer. If the blade on the Wusthof was the exact same shape as the Furi; it would weigh more than just 7 ounces.
This may be due to the Wusthof having a full tang construction. In my opinion, they are a lifetime investment!
Now I wonder how comfortable the newer Furi Gusto Grip santoku is?
UPDATE: I prefer to use the Furi over the Wusthof due to the handle, curved tip, & balance.
But the Wusthof has alot better steel in the blade & stays razor sharp alot longer. Reviewed by: John R.
Great knife/great price
I'm becoming more and more of a 'foodie' as of late, and saw this knife advertised on the Food Network and then saw it in a chef's store here in Seattle, so I picked one up.
Overall, a very easy knife to 'wield' and surprisingly lightweight, when compared to other santoku knives. The only thing I felt was kind of silly about it was the copper tip at the end of the handle.. I don't know anyone whose hands are sensitive enough to 'feel' when a knife has gotten off-balance, let alone anyone who would actually shave down the end of the handle to rebalance it.
Nevertheless, I feel like I got my money's worth and have enjoyed using it as I build skill/confidence in choppin' like a pro. Reviewed by: M. Rolington - Chicago, IL
The Best Knife Available!
If you could only own one knife...this is the one to have! Some people have said the price is too high, I say...you get what you pay for and more. This is by far the most comfortable knife I have ever used. I like have the curved handle molds into the palm of my hand and allows my wrist to remain in a natural position while I chop. I also like that there are no seams, rivets, or gaps for nasty bacteria to hide. I was concerned that the metal handle would be "slippery" when my hands got wet, but no problem. The knife is so well balanced that it stays snuggly in your grip no matter what. I gave this knife to my son-in-law for his birthday and a friend of his called me long distance just to find out where he could get one. If I could rate this knife OVER 5 stars I would.
